In 1865 Charles Reuge, a watchmaker, was the first one in the Reuge family to become involved with the manufacturing of automaton musical pocket watches. Some of his watches were given to the nobility in Europe and the Orient. This piece has an automated fountain scene on a beautiful dark blue background and is gold-plated 10 microns over brass. It has a Swiss 18-jewel mechanical shock-absorbent watch movement and an alarm function. The musical (17 note) and automation movements are wound at the back using a lyre-shaped key and you will also see an erotic scene in the back. It plays "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (W.A.Mozart).
